COVID-19
GCE Lab School is invested in the health and safety of our community. As the need for physical distance continues due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, GCE Lab School is closed to the public until further notice. We encourage all to follow the guidance as provided by the CDC, Illinois Department of Public Health, and the World Health Organization.
Amid this crisis, we are inspired by the empathy and compassion of our community, reaffirming the importance of our values. As the city begins to reopen, we are cautiously optimistic about the future. We are preparing plans for multiple scenarios regarding our return to school this fall. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
Racial Injustice
At GCE Lab School, we situate education within current events. We believe that meaningful learning prepares young people to participate as leaders and citizens in diverse communities.
As a city, we must do better to recognize and empower those who have been systemically diminished. At GCE, we have been entrusted with the care and encouragement of inspiring young people of all races. Every one of them matters. Our black students matter. And every one of our students will join the chorus of young citizens demanding and enacting a better future.
We have developed a dynamic list of resources for our community in response to current events. List of Resources

Experience the Difference
The traditional approach to education, with heavy emphasis on standardized tests and siloed subjects, does not prepare students for our changing world. At GCE, students experience their education.
